I had plans to start the new year off with a whole load of sculpting work, perhaps get back into doing a bit of CG and animation too, and certainly to start making much more regular posts, but it seems as always the shock of going back to work after the Xmas break has partially broken me already and I have managed almost none of those things.
Well I’d best get off now and carry on working on my ‘Wedding Action Figures’ so I’ve more to make posts about I guess, hopefully I’ll have some WIP pics up fairly soon (well before next January at least as I need them finished by May
)
Now this is something that I would usually have posted about whilst I was making it, but as it was a surprise birthday present for the other half I couldn’t.
She loves the book Wicked and as I also bought her a copy of the book, I thought it might be nice to try and make her a proper sculpt rather than one of the simple penguins I usually make. As the ‘witch’ is the hero (anti-hero?) of the book, I wanted to sculpt my fiancée as the witch and, although I’d actually given up trying to capture her likeness, in the end I’m actually quite pleased with how it turned out on that front, and think it manages to look something (if not completely) like her. I went for a slightly more comedy, friendly generic ‘be-witched’ style, and as I was only working on this when I was alone in the house didn’t manage to complete it to the standard I wanted or start painting it it’s still probably my best piece so far.
It’s roughly in 1/12 scale so if the witch was stood, she’d be about 6″ tall, and is about 5 1/2″ tall sitting from boot tip to the top of the hat.
Saw this over at Angry Zen Master he finds some of the coolest links and videos.
I’m just waiting for the boffins to invent ones which can use weapons, and this will be ‘proper’ robot wars.
The second instalment of Heroes Villains and Artists TV (the previous 2 were just separate parts of episode 1) is now up to watch, just hit the link on the right.
Now we all know there are a million Star Wars parodies and edit/mashes out there, more bad than good on the whole, but I’d never seen this one till a few minutes ago and I laughed out loud when I watched it so, whichever category you think it comes under, I like it a lot, thanks Chris for the link.
Now one of these could be useful for carrying the shopping home
