I’ve just recently gotten back into sculpting, and am working on a few projects in polymer clays, and even more recently trying out some modelling and tooling waxes. Here are a few examples of my recent work. Click for a larger image.
Work in progress – Dr. Horrible
Un-Wicked Witch
It’s roughly in 1/12 scale so if the witch was stood, she’d be about 6″ tall, and is about 5 1/2″ tall sitting from boot tip to the top of the hat, present for my wife.
Wolverine and Spider-man busts
Master sculpt for chocolate lollipops for my wedding.
Figures are in 1/12th scale.
‘Jerry’
Starting with my CG character, I first made a polymer clay model, which I then took a silicone mold of and cast several copies in a lightweight resin. The models are primed but not yet painted.
‘Penguins’
Using an unused earlier concept design for the main character in ‘Ice-Blade Penguin 2’, I created a simple penguin model in polymer clay and again made a silicone mold and cast several copies to allow me to customize the blanks as individual gifts.
Everyone’s favourite Angry Zen Master and artist on the excellent Erfworld has lived up to form and done a bang up job painting these for me, cheers Jamie.
I made a couple of ‘Rorschach Penguins’ gave one to Dave Gibbons to keep, and he was more than happy to sign the other one for me. Similarly I made a ‘Hell Penguin’ custom for Mike Mignola and got him to sign one for me too.
